Sketchbook with Design Slip Case, nylon stockings, paper, leather, board, molton
13.5 × 11 × 2 cm
Sketchbook, textile structure with design slipcase.
Sasso, because the shape of the closed slipcase remindes me of a stone.
The Design Slip Case
I learned it in Ascona in the 90's in a course with Peter Aegerter, great bookbinder, teacher and founder of zzzz.
This slipcase totally protects the book from light, dust and shafing.
It is possile to design the opening split horizontally, vertically, curved or angled.
I was told that in libraries that suffered fire damage, books with a Design Slip Case were spared from the flames, as no oxygen can enter. That's why these slip cases are also called Fireproof Box.
How is the textile texture made?
Take nylon stockings and break the texture till you get the design you want.
Fix it on paper and cover it with a very thin tissue.
Then use it to cover the cover!
